Biography

South African based specialist field guide and wildlife photographer Philip Hattingh is currently working at one of the top 5 star safari lodges in the Madikwe Game Reserve. His interest in conservation and nature started at a young age while spending every free moment on the family owned cattle farm in the far north of South Africa, which they converted to a game farm in later years.

After completing his schooling in Johannesburg, Philip volunteered for military service in the South African Defense Force, as soon as he completed the basic training and officer's course he once again volunteered for an operational unit that was based in the Greater Kruger National Park as part of a special anti poaching unit.

Philip then decided to follow his passion for nature and started his career in field guiding. Now, 14 years later, he is still sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for nature with his guests, with emphasis on animal behaviour and photographic safaris. He has guided in some of the most beautiful areas in Africa, which include the Kruger National Park, Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Madikwe Game Reserve, Moremi Game Reserve (Botswana), Chobe Game Reserve (Botswana), South Luangwa National Park (Zambia) & the Caprivi Strip in Northern Namibia.
